"Privacy Statement"

In normal offline businesses, companies keep certain records about their customers as part of the daily affairs of doing business. That is part of life. My family was in the lumber business for over forty years, and we had contractor and customer files. However, this data was for office use, and never shared or sold, or "used" to target our customers privacy or buying habits.

Out on the Internet, there are people gathering information all the time. But many are gathering it for unsavory purposes. Even I, have had my name used and abused on two ocassions by imposters, so I know how it feels. I also know that people have information about me that I would prefer they did not -- like Insurance databases, medical databases, the Department of Motor Vehicles, credit bureaus, grocery store chains who use "member cards" etc.

In the past, I was a bill collector for a couple of retail music companies and was very adept at finding people and information. For my 25th high-school I found 50% of my high school classmates, almost single handedly using my own detective skills. In college, I almost pursued a career in law enforcement as a detective and/or private investigator. In label collecting, I have spent 22 years hunting down the tiniest leads to find collections and peopl have have been amazingly successful at it. Suffice it to say, I know the value of private information and the ways people go about finding and using it.

THEREFORE:

At fruitcratelabels.com, I do keep a database of folks who buy my books and labels, of old friends and customers, of musicians I work with, and of those people who request me to keep an eye out for certain collectibles for them. This database is huge and has many thousands of names. However, I DO NOT sell information, trade it or share it with any other company or entity for any reason without the express permission of the person (s) themself. And in a case where I have to ask someone if they mind my giving out their name, I just give them the name of the person who wants it, instead, and they can contact each other on their own

Any and all information in my databases is personal and private and the property of me and my computer only. I respect my friends and customers' privacy absolutely. That is my promise to those people I do business with and have friendships with. So, rest easy that any information given to me will be treated with respect and your privacy honored!

I will not give out, sell or make available to anyone without a court-order, any information for purposes other than that of assisting my clients in finding things they are looking for. Your personal information is safe with me.

THAT SAID, HERE IS SOME ADVICE:

1) NEVER give out your social security or mother's maiden name UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH, LIKE YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR.

2) When you buy over the phone or online, you are not required by law to give any more than a name, mailing address, credit card number and date of expiration to purchase goods. You are NOT required to give out your business phone, email, personal phone, family names, medical information, mother's maiden names, or any other personal information.

3) Never give out your bank account numbers to anyone who calls you.

4) USE common sence. If you are concerned about people requesting or requiring information from you on the phone, theough the mail or online, do your homework and find out if the personal is reputable.

IT IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK FOR PEOPLE TO INVADE YOUR PRIVACY AND ABUSE YOUR CREDIT AND GOOD NAME. IT IS UP TO YOU TO PROTECT IT.
